Cerita - Supreme

Supreme is a skateboarding shop/clothing brand established in New York City in April 1994.

Overview

The brand was founded by James Jebbia. Although he was born in the US, he lived in England until he was
nineteen. The first Supreme store opened on Lafayette Street in downtown Manhattan in 1994. It was designed with skaters in mind, with a unique design on the store layout; the clothes arranged around the outside of the store with a large space in the middle. This meant that skaters with backpacks on could skate right into the store, and still feel comfortable. In 2004, a second location was opened on North Fairfax Ave in Los Angeles, California, which is nearly double the size of the original New York City store and features an indoor skate bowl. Other locations include Paris, London, Tokyo (Harajuku, Daikanyama & Shibuya), Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. The additional locations emulate the original Lafayette Street store's design.

The distinctive red box logo containing "Supreme" in Futura Heavy Oblique is largely based on Barbara Kruger's propaganda art.

The brand caters to the skateboarding, hip hop and punk rock cultures, and the youth culture at large. They make clothes and accessories, but also manufacture skateboards that are collected like modern art. Supreme has released skateboard decks featuring the artworks of Rammellzee, Ryan McGinness, KAWS, Larry Clark, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, Christopher Wool, Nate Lowman, Damien Hirst, and John Baldessari. They have also collaborated with other photographers, artists, and designers such as Marilyn Minter, Takashi Murakami, Daniel Johnston, Peter Saville, Futura 2000, Adam Kimmel, Bad Brains, H. R. Giger, Mark Gonzales and recently Dash Snow.

Unlike other clothing brands, who release their new collections all at once, Supreme releases a few items at a time, typically five to fifteen. This "drop" occurs online and in store once every week on Thursdays at eleven in the morning (eastern US time and 11 am (GMT)). This strategy maintains the aura of "hype" that the brand creates. Their shoes, clothing, and accessories create a big secondary market for supreme clothing, because items are produced to a very limited quantity and also because there are only ten stores worldwide. Supreme has a line of collaborations with brands such as Nike, Air Jordan, Vans, Clarks, The North Face, Hanes, Playboy, Levi's, Timberland, Comme des Garçons, Stone Island, Undercover, and White Castle. On January 18th, 2017 luxury fashion company Louis Vuitton held a fashion show where a collaboration between the two brands was confirmed. Fashion photographer Terry Richardson has produced some of the most notable pieces which include photographs of Michael Jordan, Kermit the Frog, Three Six Mafia, Lou Reed, Lady Gaga, Neil Young, and Morrissey. Kenneth Cappello is the man responsible for some of supreme's most notable photo tees like Mike Tyson, Dipset and Raekwon.

Supreme stocks its own clothing label and Vans, Nike SB, Spitfire, Thrasher and Girl Distribution Company.

Notable celebrities who have worn Supreme clothing in public include members of Odd Future - particularly Tyler, The Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, and Frank Ocean - Kanye West, Travis Scott, Chris Brown, ASAP Rocky, Schoolboy Q, Drake, Nas, Pharrell Williams, BTS, James Lavelle, John Mayer, Gucci Mane, Arif, Kid Cudi, G-Eazy, Kylie Jenner and Skepta.

G-Star RAW (commonly called G-Star) is a Dutch designer clothing company, founded by Jos van Tilburg in Amsterdam in 1989, which produces urban clothing. G-Star was originally named Gap Star but decided to change their name upon going international to avoid confusion with the already established Gap. The brand specializes in making raw denim—an unwashed, untreated denim. G-Star is influenced by military clothing. Inspirations of their designs come from vintage military apparel from around the world. Some examples include special pockets constructions and the use of trims.

G-Star's flagship stores are located in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Sydney, Shanghai, Paris, London, Cardiff, Milan, Santiago de Chile, Mumbai and the Netherlands as its home base in the most luxurious shopping street of Amsterdam, the P.C. Hooftstraat. In total, G-Star has more than 6500 selling points worldwide.

Brand history
G-Star was founded in 1989, specializing in denim clothing in the Netherlands. Jeans, shirts, and other articles of clothing were produced. In 1996, G-Star introduced raw denim jeans, which were untreated and directly from the factory. In 2016, Pharrell Williams became co-owner of denim label G Star Raw.

Collaborations
In February 2014, artist and music producer Pharrell Williams announced a collaboration between G-Star RAW and his textile company Bionic Yarn called "RAW for the Oceans," a collection of denim made from recycled plastic that is found in the ocean. The project was presented at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Cerita - Zoo York

In 1993, Zoo York was founded as the East Coast's first true skateboarding-inspired lifestyle brand. The name symbolized New York City's underground sect of b-boys, skateboarders, hip-hop and graffiti artists, punks, and various creative off-shoots. With an unbreakable East Coast attitude, the simple line with an edgy, gritty vibe steadily grew into a full-blown streetwear collection with military surplus and urban-athletic styling. Today this global brand offers a wide range of casual, utilitarian looks for men and women.

 Zoo York Tunnel
Dubbed "Zoo York" by graffiti pioneer and rapper ALI (Marc Edmonds), founder of the Soul Artists, the subway tunnel provided a "scene" where crews of Manhattan graffiti artists gathered at night. The tunnel itself was a cut-and-cover subway construction project which ripped through Central Park from 1971 to 1973. Extensions of the BMT Broadway Line and IND Sixth Avenue Line, continued north from their former 57th Street – Seventh Avenue and 57th Street terminal stations, merged just south of the City Zoo, then snaked underneath the zoo grounds and out under Fifth Avenue, where they connected to the recently completed 63rd Street Line and bellmouths for the Second Avenue Subway.

During construction, the site was left unguarded at night. Unauthorized entry was discouraged by a tall aluminum-sheathed wall erected around the open ground by the New York City Transit Authority—but this hardly deterred local graffiti writers from boosting one another over it and climbing down into the tunnel below. Down inside the tunnel, there were four subway tracks (uptown and downtown tracks on two levels; downtown tracks on upper level, uptown tracks on lower level) constructed on two levels about 100 feet (30 m) underneath the park, creating something of a subterranean monkey-house environment for invading street kids to climb around and scrawl graffiti on.

Tagging the wall
Graffiti artists also marked their territory by "tagging" the wall which had been put up around the construction site. A photograph of the extinct Zoo York Wall is prominently displayed on the second page of The Faith of Graffiti, the noted 1974 photo essay book on New York City graffiti (documented by Mervyn Kurlansky and John Naar, with text by Norman Mailer. Praeger Publishers, Inc.)
Origins of name

A cynical social observer with a quick wit, ALI coined the term "Zoo York" to describe the absurdity displayed in the attitudes and actions of New Yorkers during what he called the "Sick Seventies"—particularly as exemplified by what he saw at the Central Park subway tunnel site late at night. The tunnel's naming occurred when a crew of graffiti artists calling themselves The Underground gathered at the site late one autumn night in 1971. Several of them, ALI, FINE, KITE (aka CRUNCH) and ACEY (aka SIE-1), had just attended a showing of a new musical-comedy review called National Lampoon's Lemmings at the Village Gate downtown. The show (which starred future comic notables John Belushi, Chevy Chase and Christopher Guest) lampooned the Woodstock Festival, which had taken place upstate two years earlier—calling it "Woodchuck" and equating the entire hippie generation with lemmings bent on self-destruction. The crew of teenagers made similar comparisons between themselves and the animals in the nearby zoo.

The Central Park Zoo at that time was a classical 19th-century menagerie, populated by wild animals displayed in open-air cages, who paced the bars back and forth neurotically—always hoping for an escape, yet paradoxically blind to the world beyond their cramped quarters. ALI noted that by contrast, here were these feral teenagers, himself included, living in a free society, who sought nothing more wholeheartedly than to crowd together in a deep, dark hole in the ground. Marvelling at their perverse urban psychologies, ALI decided that all city people were insane for seeking imprisonment in tiny apartments, offices, subway cars and the like, and declared that New York City itself was "not New, but a Zoo!" He named the tunnel itself "Zoo York"—a perfect symbol, in his mind, of the dark psyche of the inner city itself.

Cerita - Drunknmunky

Drunknmunky is an ancient form of kung fu style fighting practiced by shaolin monks. The monks had to pass 9 different tests to show strength of mind and body; for each level, they were awarded a sacred dot, burnt into their forehead. In the last and most difficult test the novice would have to demonstrate mastery of DRUNKNMUNKY, showing control and strength of mind and body. You will see the 9 dots on all our garments, representing the Shaolin monk's beliefs and ideologies… Drunknmunky.

Our Californian founders drew upon their own orientaDrunknmunky About Us Logol heritage and took inspiration from the monk's beliefs. The two young founders lived and grew up through 1990's California, they noticed how the "super brands" were shaping peoples clothes, style and attitude. They created a brand with it's own identity. Individuality, strength and independence are the Drunknmunky ideologies, we embody the spirit of the Shaolin monks and believe in individuals who aren't afraid to be who they are.

Drunknmunky promotes a lifestyle, not a brand. Our streetwear represents the spirit of independence, Drunknmunky's diversity allows anyone who can realise their inner strength to embody the brand and clothing whatever your walk of life.

Individuality is a gift, Drunknmunky is our lifestyle. Set the trend. For every walk of life there is always one…
