This Limited Edition commemorates the "Summer Seige of Osaka Castle" in
which Yukimura Sanada, often referred to as one of the greatest Samurai
warriors of Japan and leader a small army that won many battles though
often outnumbered, was able to hold off an assault on the Osaka Castle
in the Summer of 1615 with his team of 6,000 men against an army of
30,000. The leather patch on the S8000JX-N depicts the image of
Yukimura, based on a statue of his liking at the SankÅ Shrine in Osaka,
in front of a burning Osaka Castle.

The
S8000JX-N uses 100% Texas cotton which is famous for being a "rough"
cotton due to it's high amount of short fibers. Normally, the short
fibers are removed to make a smoother fabric, but Samurai adds more
short cotton fibers to make the yarn even rougher. The result is a yarn
that is highly uneven in size, making the woven fabric very "slubby"
(irregular). Moreover, while most denim manufacturers who use Texas
cotton mix it with different cottons from various other areas, Samurai
uses only 100% Texas cotton. Even the sewing thread is made of 100%
Texas cotton. This creates a jean that captures the essence and spirit
of this tough Texas denim. Samurai have produced a few styles now using
their 15oz Texas cotton denim but all were in the traditional right
hand twill denim while the S8000JX-N marks the first time they've
attempted using this Texas cotton in a left hand twill denim and in an
heavier 18oz denim. Left hand twill denims generally produce a softer
hand so the end result, a mixture of these rough and soft properties,
is a unique 100% short cotton fiber Texas denim in a smooth left hand
weave.
