Cerita - PRPS

Prps is a New York-based luxury fresh denim brand that was established in 2002, and was founded by former Nike designer, Donwan Harrell. The brand motto is "Bruised, never broken".

There are 3 PRPS brands; PRPS Noir - Prices range from $500-$1500. PRPS - Prices range from $350-$600 PRPS Goods & Co. - Prices range from $180-$250 (all tops are under Goods & Co brand)

Prps jeans are manufactured in Japan. The denim used for the manufacture of the jeans, is organically grown in Africa. The Japanese manufacturer of the jeans uses looms from the 1960s similar to the type that were used to produce denim for Levi's. The manufacturing of Prps wares has since been moved outside of Japan, to China.

(PRPS fabricates heirloom jeans of organic Japanese or Zimbabwean cotton with a futuristic process that replicates the rugged wear of yore. Hand-made molds ensure all our whiskering is original. PRPS stitches the soul of ancestral American jeans, from when the denim work gear was new, onto modern silhouettes that bear the old stains proudly.

The PRPS NOIR Collection is not about black denim. Noir utilizes the best selvedge denim fabrics available anywhere in the world – with incredibly extensive washes and old school wear, tear & repair details that are authentic to genuine vintage jeans painstakingly collected over the years worn by real miners, mechanics, and laborers alike. Harrell says that the manufacturing process was inspired by denim worn by workers before it became popular as an everyday fashion. The designer launched a women's range in the US in September 2008 and will be launching in Europe and Asia in January 2009.

The selvage line contains intertwining strands of Red and Silver lamé which symbolize the bleeding passion of the samurai's soul and the gleam of the razor sharp sword which he possesses. Jahitan rantai/chain stiching juga menggunakan benang yang telah di dye hitam.

Review - Samurai Jeans - 17oz LTD ED S5000GX-M Water Element Model

The "Go Rin No Sho" series is a collection of 5 different models presented by Samurai Jeans, each one based on the teachings of the famous samurai warrior Miyamoto Musashi found in his written text on survival strategies entitled "The Book of Five Rings" or "五輪書 / Go Rin No Sho" as it's known in Japan. Musashi broke his teachings down into five sections, or "books", in connection with the five physical movements of life as referenced in many ancient Eastern philosophies and thought; Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Void. And in this order Samurai will release a new jean featuring weft yarns and pockets bags dyed with a natural dyestuff representing each of these five elements.

 

The S5000GX-M is the second in this series and features weft yarns and pocket bags dyed with Natural Indigo to represent Musashi's second book, "The Book of Water".

Review - Samurai Jeans - 18oz Texas Cotton LHT S8000JX-N LTD ED.

This Limited Edition commemorates the "Summer Seige of Osaka Castle" in which Yukimura Sanada, often referred to as one of the greatest Samurai warriors of Japan and leader a small army that won many battles though often outnumbered, was able to hold off an assault on the Osaka Castle in the Summer of 1615 with his team of 6,000 men against an army of 30,000. The leather patch on the S8000JX-N depicts the image of Yukimura, based on a statue of his liking at the Sankō Shrine in Osaka, in front of a burning Osaka Castle.

The S8000JX-N uses 100% Texas cotton which is famous for being a "rough" cotton due to it's high amount of short fibers. Normally, the short fibers are removed to make a smoother fabric, but Samurai adds more short cotton fibers to make the yarn even rougher. The result is a yarn that is highly uneven in size, making the woven fabric very "slubby" (irregular). Moreover, while most denim manufacturers who use Texas cotton mix it with different cottons from various other areas, Samurai uses only 100% Texas cotton. Even the sewing thread is made of 100% Texas cotton. This creates a jean that captures the essence and spirit of this tough Texas denim. Samurai have produced a few styles now using their 15oz Texas cotton denim but all were in the traditional right hand twill denim while the S8000JX-N marks the first time they've attempted using this Texas cotton in a left hand twill denim and in an heavier 18oz denim. Left hand twill denims generally produce a softer hand so the end result, a mixture of these rough and soft properties, is a unique 100% short cotton fiber Texas denim in a smooth left hand weave.
