In a well choreographed collaboration with New York-base Japanese artist Tomokazu Matsuyama, known simply as MATZU to his friends, the denim label Evisu finally released the MATZU For Evisu Jeans Limited Edition Box Set. In part to Evisu’s 20th anniversary, albeit a year later, the limited edition coincide with celebratory theme of “20 Years of Making Rules ; 20 Years of Premium Denim“.
The slim 2010 fit, unwashed selvage denim feature vibrant yellow
polka-dots and teardrop shaped paisley in tonal fashion. Each pair comes
in a traditional Japanese packaging, an elaborate gift wrapping process
with furoshiki cloth in various shades of blue along with a wooden box
etched with Matsuyama’s famous motif of a Kirin. Said to be a
Chimera-like creature that was half-dragon and half-giraffe, the Kirin
played an auspicious part in Asian mythology and played an important
role in Japanese culture. Accompany within edition is a special Japanese
fan printed with Matsuyama’s elaborated Kirin graphic on the front, a
detailed timeline of Evisu’s 20 years on the back. MATZU For Evisu Jeans
– Limited Edition Box Set will be available soon at Evisu flagship
stores around the globe.
