Fuhhh....
Why is this frogman so expensive?
This piece was designed by a famous artist Takashi Murakami. He make artworks that people have paid millions for so the price reflects that. It is desired by some art collectors who will only display it in its beautiful display case/box as a work of art by Murakami (this is reflected by the fact Casio never made any spare resin for it). Very few G-Shock collectors can compete with those crazy art lovers...So it is out of reach for most of us who can only dream of it. It was limited to 300 pieces. It debuted at $3000 in 2010 so now 7 years later maybe someone can pay that extreme price.
These came out in Japan in the summer of 2010 and was exclusively sold trough the Takashi Love store. 198 of them numbered 2-200 (01 was kept by Takashi himself) was sold in Japan for $3600. Thanks to the effort of Tyko Moon, 98 of them was released in the fall of 2010 in the US numbered 201-298. And they retailed for $3800-$4000 in places like Tourneau, Flight Club and some Macy stores.
2 of them where apparently sold in a watch store in Versailles France (presumably 299-300). Takashi was supposed to have exhibited the watch at an art exhibition in Versailles Palace. But he was prevented because the art exhibitor thought his watch would steal to much attention from another watch that was also at the exhibition (The Takashi G sure has super power appeal to cause such action be taken against it he he)
The original plan was to exhibit one and sell one at an exclusive watch store (can not remember its name tough), so if people at the exhibition asked where to buy one he could refer to that store. But since he was not allowed to exhibit it, both watches ended up at that store.
This watch was not aimed at the G community, it is more of an art piece sold as an artwork intended mostly for display purposes in a nice display case or cup board. So mostly for Takashi Murakami collectors or cup board collectors ( a very common collector type in Japan). Some of Murakamis art work have been sold for millions. So perhaps this watch is a good investment for the future, who knows...
No siri terpaksa digelapkan atas sebab-sebab keselematan. Simpan katak jelly merah ni dah sama cam simpan Porshe 914. Kena sorok.
Anyway they seem to still go for around $22,999.99, last week one sold at that price on eBay.
